Asmara Abigail (b. April 03, 1992, Jakarta) is an acclaimed actress and multidisciplinary artist whose work has screened at major international festivals including Locarno, Toronto, Sundance, Venice, and Busan. Named one of Variety’s “Asian Stars: Up Next,” at the 4th International Film Festival & Awards Macao. She is recognized for her fearless performances and transformative physical presence on screen. Her role in Woo Ming Jin’s Stone Turtle earned her a Best Actress nomination at the 75th Locarno International Film Festival with the film winning the FIPRESCI Award and the Best Actress (SEA Feature) award at the Bali Makarya Film Festival, as noted by Berlinale Talents: “Your character has so many layers, almost as if you are playing multiple roles.” 

After completing her Master’s degree in Italy; Marketing & Branding for Luxury Products (cum laude), Asmara returned to Indonesia Asmara debut in the silent black-and-white feature Setan Jawa (2016) and gained wide acclaim through box-office hit Pengabdi Setan (2017). She trained under maestro Enrico Bonavera at Piccolo Teatro di Milano – Teatro d’Europa (2018) and was selected for Berlinale Talents 2023 – Acting Studio under Jean-Louis Rodrigue and Kristof Konrad.
 In 2025, she served as a juror at the 78th Locarno Film Festival for the Concorso Cineasti del Presente category, further solidifying her reputation as one of Indonesia’s most respected and internationally recognized film figures.
