I'm Coming For You Anyway

I’m Coming For You Anyway is a solo performance that examines the legacy of male violence alongside the quiet, exhausting reality of caring for ageing parents in queer diasporic families. Written while I was caring for my own parents in Malaysia, the piece grew out of lived urgency rather than theory. It was first shared in Berlin at the Monologfestival with TD Theatre Berlin, where the overlap between these themes became impossible to ignore.
The work traces how migration, patriarchy, and racism shape ideas of duty, care, and survival, and how inherited patterns of violence, self-erasure, and resilience resurface when we become carers ourselves. Developed through conversations and intimate creative workshops with queer migrants and diaspora adults, the piece asks what it means to care without disappearing and how we carry our histories into the bodies we are now responsible for.
