Sofia Reis is an award-winning Portuguese actress born in Lisbon, Portugal. She works across film, television, and theatre and is known for portraying powerful, mysterious, and emotionally complex women.

Her screen debut came in the Italian feature film Sostiene Pereira (1994), shot in Lisbon and starring Marcello Mastroianni, with a score by Academy Award–winning composer Ennio Morricone. The experience sparked her passion for acting and led her to pursue professional training.

In 1997 Sofia began formal acting studies at the IAE – Institute of Performing Arts, at the time the only private acting school in Portugal, while continuing to work in small roles in film and television. She later trained at the prestigious ACT – School of Actors, participating in several professional workshops.

In 2010 she graduated in the Meisner Technique at the John Frey Studio for Actors under American actor and writer John Frey.

That same year Sofia received the Augusta Award for Best Actress at the 8th Bragacine – International Festival of Independent Cinema (Braga, Portugal), marking an important milestone in her career.

Her work has also been recognized with multiple nominations at the CinEuphoria Awards, including:

  • Best Actress – Faminto (2012)

  • Best Supporting Actress – Além de Ti (2013)

  • Best Actress – Anjo Negro (2015)

In July 2015 she won Best Actress for the short film Anjo Negro (Dark Angel) at the Zone International Film Festival in Houston, USA.

Sofia speaks Portuguese, English, and French fluently and is a member of the Portuguese Film Academy.
Since 2017 she has been represented in Portugal by CAST39 Talent Agency.
