DUBLIN ACTOR RAY MALONE TO STAR IN SINÉAD MURPHY’S DARK THRILLER 'SLUDGE' FOLLOWING ACCLAIMED BREAKOUT PERFORMANCE — Irish screen actor and musician Ray Malone is rapidly cementing his status as one of Ireland's most compelling new talents, following his latest casting in the upcoming dark thriller, Sludge, helmed by award-winning writer-director Sinéad Murphy. Fresh off its intense production across County Louth and South Armagh, Sludge marks a highly anticipated collaboration between Malone and Murphy (Oriel Films). The project is a dark, gripping thriller underpinned by sharp social commentary. The film is currently in post-production and aiming for an upcoming festival rollout. The announcement follows the critical success of Malone’s breakout performance in the gritty crime drama The Troubles: A Dublin Story, directed by Luke Hanlon. Malone starred as Sean Shannon, delivering a nuanced, highly atmospheric performance that captures the psychological toll of a life lived in the shadows. Malone’s first film defied its indie origins, securing physical distribution via Tower Records Dublin and MPX. Malone’s artistic trajectory is uniquely rooted in a diverse creative background. Before transitioning to elite screen training with renowned casting director Gillian Reynolds at the Dublin Central School of Acting, he spent nearly a decade writing lyrics and performing rap and hip-hop across major music circuits in Ireland and across the UK.
