Nando Irene, a native of Matera, originally from Salandra.  He began his career with the Teatro dei Sassi, directed by Massimo Lanzetta, attending workshops with Paolo Baroni, Vincenza Modica, Mario Biagini, and Thomas Richards of Jerzy Grotowski's work center, among others. He has appeared in several film productions: among the latest are Francesca Archibugi's The Name of the Son, Giovanni Veronesi's The King's Musketeers, Stasi and Fontana's Welcome Back, President, and Put Grandma in the Freezer, and Gigi Roncati's Lucania. For television, he has appeared in numerous dramas, including: Judge Mastrangelo by Enrico Oldoini, Laura's Choice by Alessandro Piva, Inspector Rex 2 by Marco Serafini, Police District 10 by Alberto Ferrari, Love Today by Stasi and Fontana, Sisters by Cinzia Th. Torrini, The Bad Guy by Stasi and Fontana. The Light in the Farmhouse by T. Aristalco and R. Donna. He currently plays Marshal Lamacchia in the successful series Imma Tataranni. Since 2019, he has been the General Director of the Matera Film Festival.
