Melody Van Gompel (1999, she/her) is a multidisciplinary artist born in Brussels and based in Antwerp, working at the intersection of performance, film, dance, and visual art. She studied drama at the Lemmens Institute in Leuven before continuing her education at KASK/School of Arts in Ghent, where she graduated in 2024 with her master’s performance WEATHER PLEASURE. During her studies, she performed in Blueberries leave bruises on the skin (2024) and Untitled 1 (2021) by Astrid De Haes, as well as INNERSKIN (2023) by Neoza Goffin. Her journey into film began in 2016 with the short film FRANKIE15 by Livia Perneel, which opened the door to a growing visual practice, allowing her to work on new projects every year, from short films and series to feature films. As a creator, she explores the connections between different art forms, using the body as a primary tool for expression. Her work exists within a queer, imaginary landscape that challenges and redefines conventional notions of identity and physicality.
