Maël Rouin-Berrandou is a promising young French actor, trained at Cours Florent (improvisation) and at the Conservatory of the 9th arrondissement of Paris. He made his film debut in Killing Hope (2017), a short film by Natacha Grangeon and Julia Retali.

The same year, he gained recognition on television, where he was directed notably by Guillaume Nicloux (the series Il était une seconde fois) and Hélène Angel (the TV movie Last dance). The young man was also seen in cinema in Amoureux de ma femme (2018) by Daniel Auteuil and The ABCs of Love (2020) by Noémie Saglio.

But Maël particularly broke through with La traviata, my brothers and I (2020) by Yohan Manca, where he holds the lead role, alongside Judith Chemla, Dali Benssalah and Sofian Khammes. He sensitively portrays Nour, a teenager from a working-class neighborhood who discovers an ideal during a summer class led by an opera singer.

Freely inspired by a play by Hédi Tillette de Clermont-Tonnerre, this first feature film was selected in the Un Certain Regard section of the 2021 Cannes Film Festival, where it was well received by critics. It was then released in theaters on January 5, 2022. Maël Rouin-Berrandou, whose talents for dramatic art and singing were revealed, was selected for the list of male revelations highlighted by the César Academy in 2023. A short film directed for the occasion by Audrey Diwan brought together these young actors. He followed up with Madness train by Olivier Van Hoofstadt.

Maël Rouin-Berrandou expanded his international audience in 2024 with the Spanish series Eighteen, produced by SetMágic for RTVE. He plays the role of Moha, a young migrant seeking his place, who forms a deep friendship with a teenage girl.

Maël continues to take on nuanced roles, with a preference for authentic and genuine characters, notably with the 2026 short film Precious Fantasy selected at Clermont-Ferrand and the feature film Une des leurs with Celeste Brunnquell.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
