Jan Hensel (born 1997 in Frankfurt (Oder), Germany) is a stage actor with a strong focus on children’s and youth theatre as well as musical and narrative performance formats. He gained his first stage experience in the boys’ choir of the Singakademie Frankfurt (Oder) and in independent theatre productions.

After completing a degree in theatre pedagogy in Heidelberg, he worked as a guest actor at the RambaZamba Theatre Berlin under the direction of Jacob Höhne. During his acting studies, he was engaged at Bühnen Bern in the 2023/2024 season, collaborating with directors such as Roger Vontobel and Franziska Stuhr, with a particular emphasis on contemporary theatre for young audiences.

In March 2025, he made his debut at the Young State Theatre Parchim in “The Robbers” by Friedrich Schiller (dir. David Stöhr). Further engagements followed at the Young Mecklenburg State Theatre Schwerin/Parchim, including the musical folk song performance “Es kann ja nicht immer so bleiben. Ein Volksliederabend.” and “Der Tatortreiniger” by Mizzi Meyer (episode The Curse), directed by Katja Mickan, where he played Edelbert von Eickenheim.

In the 2025/26 season, Jan Hensel will take on the leading role of Pierre Arronax in “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” based on the novel by Jules Verne.

Alongside his acting work, he initiated the reading series “In Pairs – A Reading Series for Everyone” at the Young State Theatre Parchim and regularly performs in readings and theatrical projects as a speaker and performer.
