Born in 1997, he makes his debut as an actor when he is yet to turn ten, appearing as Prince Mamilius in a production of Shakespeare’s A Winter’s Tale at the Globe Theatre in Rome. After that, he takes part in several other major theatre productions – most notably a rendition of Aristophanes’ Ploutos directed by Massimo Popolizio and Brecht’s The Good Person of Szechwan directed by Mariangela Melato. The turning point in his career comes shortly after, at the age of fourteen, when he is chosen by Bernardo Bertolucci to be the lead in his last film, Me & You (2012). The film premières at Cannes Film Festival and launches Jacopo Olmo on a streak of acting jobs in both Italian and international productions: The Dinner (2014) by Ivano De Matteo, The girl in the fog (2017) by Donato Carrisi, Una questione privata (2017) by Paolo and Vittorio Taviani, but also Garth Davis’ May Magdalene (2018), the RAI/Netflix show Medici: Masters of Florence (2018-19), Devils (2022) and The Swarm (2023). In 2020, he graduated in English Literature from Rome’s John Cabot University with a thesis on the 21st century novel. Recently, he has started expanding his career’s scope: besides presenting his last film as a lead, Where the wind blows (2023) by Marco Righi, and working as a co-lead for the upcoming Arsa (directed by MASBEDO and produced by Beatrice Bulgari), he works as a translator from English to Italian (among his latest works, Immaculate by Oliver Lansley and The Secret Love Life of Ophelia by Steven Berkoff), as author, playwright and screenwriter, and he is preparing to make his first film as a director.
