Daan Colijn graduated from the Amsterdam Academy of Theatre and Dance in 2009. During his studies, he appeared in the Dutch feature film De Storm and interned at Bos Theaterproductions (Schateiland) and with Toneelgroep De Appel (Power), touring South Africa. He completed his degree with the performances Wust and Ondragelijk.

After graduating, Daan took on the role of Mortimer in Maria Stuart by Aida Karic in Austria, followed by directing and acting in various productions. He played Paul for 1.5 year in the hit musical Soldaat van Oranje and starred in Limonov (Parade/Ulrike Quade Company) and De Gelaarsde Poes by Ro Theater.

As a theater maker and director, Daan was part of Atelier Oerol and created immersive and site-specific works like Koffie en Cake, Louter Kabouter, OMA, and Creaturen. With Club Silenzio he won the 2012 Fringe Silver Award, followed by Club Silenzio in Space. He also directed the interactive film Arcade (VPRO Dorst) and worked as production designer on Kill Mode. In 2018, he created and directed Ellis, an immersive art installation for the Dutch Design Week with VPRO Medialab.

On screen, Daan starred in Raveleijn, Holland’s Next Talkshow, Lang zal ze leven, and appeared in Flikken Rotterdam/Maastricht, GTST, CMC, and films including Magistratus, Het Lot van Tom, Scar Tissue, Molly, and Kill Mode.

Since 2015, Daan has co-run the award-winning gay travel blog Couple of Men with his husband Karl, promoting inclusive and adventurous LGBTQ+ travel. In 2021, they were named “Best in Travel” by Lonely Planet and received the LGBTQ+ Storyteller Award. Their first travel book was published in 2022.
