Thamisanqa Molepo

Actorsgarden

Son of political refugees from the former South African segregationist state, freed by Nelson Mandela in 1994, Thamisanqa, or simply Thami, was born in Hanover (Germany) on the 21st January, 1970.

At the age four, after the separation of his parents, Thamisanqa, his elder brother Matheas and his mother move to Heidelberg where Thami attends German schools up to his first years of secondary education.

In 1984, due to Matheas’ tragic death, occurred in a road accident, Mrs. Molepo decides to change scenery by moving to Africa with Thamisanqa. Unable to return to her country of origin, for to her active struggle against Apartheid, Harare (Zimbabwe) becomes their home for the following years. Thamisanqa attends a British High School during that period, before returning to Europe, in 1988, and more precisely to the eternal city of Rome (Italy).

The subject of our story graduates from St. George’s International School in 1989 and the year after enrols in Vanna Polverosi’s “Laboratorio Cinema”, where his acting/singing career begins under the stage name: Thami Dee. However, in 1998 he abandons that pseudonym to regain possession of his real name and surname.

Thamisanqa, in addition to his passion for the fine arts, is a civil and human rights activist, as well as a proud father of four children…
