Martina Gierlich

Walcher Management

I have always loved telling stories - Even my first grade report card says: Martina is very attentive and talks non-stop. Well, I guess some things never change :D Over the years I have figured that exactly that passion for stories and expressing myself drove me to find various ways to do that – subsequently leading me to pursue acting. Being a child of immigrants myself (my parents left Romania in the early 90s), I have always been drawn to such characters, wanting to lend them my face, my body, and my voice. Amplifying their stories, learning about myself in the process. Always inspired by the question of what lies beneath the surface: What keeps you going? What pushes you? What makes you tick? What makes you laugh?

Having a deep interest in the human mind, I have also sought more “academic” ways of studying it. Thus, I went to university to study Psychology. Even though the lecture halls and classrooms of southern Germany are less creatively and artistically challenging than a film set, I found that both worlds can co-exist and complement each other wonderfully. And lastly, both acting, and psychology want to answer the same questions: Who are you and therefore, who am I?
