José Fernández is a Spanish theater, film, and television actor born in Málaga. He trained in dramatic arts in Málaga and Madrid, rounding out his education with specialized studies in on-camera acting and techniques such as the Meisner and Chekhov methods, as well as under the guidance of teachers including José Carlos Plaza and Graham Dixon, among others.

His stage career began with Andalusian companies such as El Carromato and Axarco Teatro, where he appeared in productions of both classical and contemporary repertoire, including *Blood Wedding*, *The Prodigious Shoemaker*, *Don Juan Tenorio*, and *Today Is a Holiday*. He subsequently continued his stage career with productions such as A Midsummer Night’s Dream, I, Hamlet, Max’s Concave Dream, and Fuenteovejuna for the Golden Age Classical Theater Festival in Melilla, touring throughout Spain.

In film, he has appeared in numerous feature films, notably La Mancha Negra by Enrique García and Quién llorará por mí by Paco Izquierdo, for which he won the Lorca Award for Best Film as a co-star. His career also includes numerous short films, notably Sálvame, for which he received the Best Actor Award at the Torremolinos Film Festival, as well as Churrería Maravillas, which won the Best Actor Award at the Rome International Movie Awards in Rome (Italy), and Nefissa, winner of the Best Andalusian Short Film Award at the Seville Film Festival, and appearances in television series such as Arrayán and 45 Revoluciones, among others.

In 2026, he was elected a member of the Spanish Academy of Performing Arts.
