Versatile and bilingual artist Markoesa Hamer studied acting in London at the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama and in Amsterdam at the ATKA: The Academy of Dramatic Arts & Music Theatre. She is a native English and Dutch speaking actor.

Since 2007 she has been working in film, TV and theatre productions. She starred in numerous feature films such as Torch Song (2024) and Moloch (2022), plays the role of Marlene in the German Netflix original series How To Sell Drugs Online (Fast) (2019-2021) and Fleur in the Dutch series Koppensellers (2020). In 2020 she won the award for Best Actress for her role in the short film Nesteltherapie (Nesting Therapy) at the International Short Film Festival Middelburg. In 2019 she won Best Actress for her role in the short film Hou Vast (Hold On) at the Zuidelijk Film Festival.

Markoesa starred in prizewinning movies including Den Helder (Gouden Kalf 2008 for Best TV Film) and Aanmodderfakker (Gouden Kalf 2014 for Best Feature Film). She was a regular in the popular Dutch TV series Dokter Deen (2012-2018) and in the Comedy Central sketch show Popoz (2013-2014) and Popoz the Film (2015). In the UK, Markoesa starred in the BBC series Holby City (2014), The West End production In The Beginning Was The End (2013) and in the short film A Beautiful Death (2012).
