Zarah Kofler is an Austrian actress and performance artist based in Berlin. After finishing training as a tailor she moved from the Austrian Alps to London to work as a seamstress for designers like Robert Wun and Charles Jeffrey. Through her first modelling jobs and video performances she discovered her passion for performance. In 2018, she left London and moved to Berlin, where she discovered theatre and fell in love with it. Her first productions were created at P14, the youth theatre of the Volksbühne at Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz.

Since autumn 2021 she has worked as a resident guest artist at the Volksbühne under the artistic direction of René Pollesch. She made her debut on the main stage in "Herr Puntila und das Riesending in Mitte" as part of one of Pollesch's legendary women's choruses. Followed by collaborations with Gob Squad,  Julien Gosselin, Kornél Mundruczó, Kurdwin Ayub and Lydia Haider.
In Julien Gosselin's five-hour production "Extinction" she played one of the leading roles, Fräulein Else after Arthur Schnitzler. The co-production premiered 2023 at the Wiener Festwochen and Festival d'Avignon before touring across Europe. In "Weiße Witwe" by Kurdwin Ayub, she portrayed the bodyguard Jessica and Leila alongside addeN, Georg Friedrich, Benny Claessens and Samirah Breuer. The production was presented at Radikal Jung in Munich and the Wiener Festwochen in 2025.

Alongside her theatre work, she also works in film and television. She appeared in the feature film "Rave On", which premiered at the Filmfest München in 2025 and went on to screen at numerous international film festivals. She also appears as Lucrezia in the historical drama series "Das Wunderteam" on ORF.

Zarah is interested in characters who invent their own rules or refuse to fit into someone else's.
